How the program works.......

For merchants

Merchants sign up for the program absolutely free. We just ask that the merchants provide at least a 15% discount on a service or merchandise. The offer can and should be creative. So in effect the merchant is paying for the privilege of being in the program by the offer they have given. It is important to note that the card can be used over and over again so be sure the offer is enticing for the customers but not so much that it hurts your business. It is also important to note that the discounts that are being offered greatly increase the value of the card and make it easy for the Non-Profits and Charities to sell the cards. This is a LOCAL program for LOCAL businesses and LOCAL Charities. There is no "catch". We are not selling you anything, there are no "hidden fees".The duration which you participate in the program is completely up to you as the merchants.

For Non-Profits

The program is very simple. Non-Profits pre-sell the Grapevine Discount card at a significant margin. There is no up-front costs to the program at all!! With an active sales force it would be easy to make $15.000 to $150,000 and even more!. It is important to note that many of the merchants in the network are willing and able to be the sales force for the various Non-Profits selling the cards. There are many aspects of selling cards that needs to be discussed in person.

For Consumers

The card has a significant value. They sell for $25.00 which is a complete write off as a donation to a non-profit. Many of the discounts being offered are more than the cost of the card just with the first use of the card. In some cases if you need a service listed you could be several hundred dollars ahead just by purchasing the card. The cards are good for a year. We have started several social networks surrounding this program. We have a facebook fan page for the cards and we utilize our primary fan page to drive traffic to the Grapevine Discount card site. We have also established an exclusive group of merchants and non-profits on facebook that is truly the who's who of Spokane. The benefits of joining this program are too numerous to mention in a single blog post.

Spokane Grapevine debuts discount card program

— Local business owners Monte and Kelly Tareski of SpokaneGrapevine.com have long been involved with promoting small businesses and local charities in Spokane. They have a fan page on facebook that is over 11,000 strong and use their blogs and website to spread the word about all the wonderful things this region has to offer.

They have recently unveiled a new program called the Spokane Grapevine Discount Card Program, a program where non-Profits and charities sell a physical card (similar to a credit card) for $25. The card entitles the bearer to discounts from merchants that have signed up for the program. The discounts offered by the merchants are significant so the value of the card is an easy sell for the charitable organizations.

The program is three fold. Charities and non-profits make a significant margin on the sale of the card, local merchants get the much needed foot traffic in their door and the consumer gets significant discounts from participating merchants. Best of all it doesn't cost merchants anything to sign up for the program. It is a free program for merchants with no strings attached. Each participating merchant gets a mini-web page on the Spokane Grapevine Discount Card Website which will be cross promoted across the extensive Spokane Grapevine Network. All the work is done by Monte and Kelly. All merchants need to do is sign up and wait for customers to walk in their door. Almost all of the money generated from this program stays right here in Spokane be it merchants or local charities.

The network of merchants is growing daily and includes participants like Round Table Pizza, Finders Keepers, Harmon Glass, Corner Cottage, and Something Else Deli to name just a few.
